This systematic review uses the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses guidelines to analyze the role of <i>Candida albicans</i> in the process of oral carcinogenesis. Oral carcinogenesis is also dependent on the balance of the oral microbiota.
