Abstract
Region-Oriented Compression (ROC) is a computation intensive emerging technique for very low bitrate image and video coding. The design of a Hilbert fractal codec, a key-component for ROC of color images, is discussed. The implementation efficiency of the codec is critical since it determines the feasibility of the global compression scheme.
