Abstract

Standard methods of obtaining the image sharpness of a color picture tube from MTF considerations are shown to lead to erroneous results if the non-linear response of the eye is not taken into consideration. A new method is proposed in which the line profile of a single raster line is modified, both for luminance response and frequency response of the human eye, to determine a modified MTF curve.
