Abstract

The industries involved with high-speed rotational systems tend to replace the traditional mechanical bearing systems with magnetic suspension. This trend is due to various advantages of magnetic bearings, for example low mechanical losses, high reliability lubrication free operation and the ability to function in vacuum environments. This paper presents a general approach of the pre-sizing and optimal electromagnetic analysis of active magnetic bearings for high-speed machines.
