Abstract
This paper presents a method of X-ray diffraction analysis used to obtain information on the phase composition of rail steel. Knowledge of the phase composition of railway rails allow for a thorough analysis of magnetic properties. Knowledge of basic magnetic properties of railway rail will be assisting in the of induction heating process simulation of railway turnouts. Induction heating process simulation allows to determinate distribution of magnetic induction and magnetic intensity across the rail itself and in its environment, and define a separate power in the rail to flow through it due eddy currents.
