Abstract

Access to energy in East Africa is limited, yet the countries are rich in renewable energy potential. The implementation of this energy requires a good understanding of the needs and the adaptation of existing solutions in the literature to the particular case. This work focuses on 6 renewable energy technologies identified and installed in 9 rural colleges in Uganda The expected impact is a halving of utility bills and a 63% reduction in greenhouse gases. However, feedback from the field reveals that the acceptability and misuse of the system prevent a complete result.
