La place des militaires dans les mobilités opérationnelles

Abstract

When it is not left to the field of geopolitic, the military fact is not studied in geography even though it presents characteristics that are likely to put the concepts of the discipline to the test and to produce geographical knowledge. In the hope of arousing an interest for a geographical approach of the military fact, we want to lay down the first foundations for a study on militaries operations considered as mobilities. Beyond an empirical work that has yet to be done, the paper presents a few ways to explore the « operational mobilities ». Then, we suggest that these mobilities be examined through the prism of the concept of place (heard as a combination for an individual of a social position with a location). By choosing such an angle, we realize that the concept of place opens perspectives for results on questions of the social construction of identities and on dwelling.
