New challenges for teacher education introduced by the use of ICT in the classrooms

Abstract

The TEEM 2020 conference track: ‘Teacher Education for ICT integration in classroom’, focuses on learning the benefits and challenges of using of digital technologies for teaching. ICT has prompted teachers to update their way of teaching and to use a variety of pedagogical resources in the classroom. Therefore, digital technologies are crucial to transform education nowadays as their use is expanding worldwide. This track provides a forum to discuss the challenges posed by these technologies in the teaching profession and to offer practical answers for teachers so that they can better make use of them (i.e., not only the technical mastery but also the application of pedagogical strategies to promote students’ learning). This forum will reflect upon the integration of ICT in especially adverse times such the COVID-19 pandemic context.
