« La rage de collection ». Conditions, enjeux et significations de la formation des grands chansonniers satiriques et historiques à Paris au début du XVIIIe siècle (1710-1750)

Abstract

The great compilations of french political songs from XVI-XVIIIth centuries remain few analysed by most academic historians, because of the lack of precise knowledges about the ways of production, diffusion and conservation of those songs during the Ancien Regime. The aim of this study is to summarise recent discoveries about the establishment of greatest compilations of songs and to explain their political, economic and social functions. Historically located — 1680-1740 — , the building of those compilations of songs reveals the emergency of a particular relation to time and history by upper classes from the French society.
