Abstract

In this paper, we design a balun that operates at 60GHz. The proposed balun is based on a substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) structure that can reduce losses in high frequency bands. A single-ended signal is divided by 3-dB power divider, and then differential signals are generated by inverting the phase. In simulation, the amplitudes of differential signals are −5.2dB and −5.18dB, respectively, which are smaller than the goal of −3dB. This is due to the high insertion loss of the transition region. The phase difference between two balanced ports is almost 180 degrees. This result can be achieved from 57GHz to 62GHz.
