In this paper, a recent survey about the various available single-stage isolated unidirectional OBC systems are compared regarding to the previous four metrics. Moreover, hardware limitation, performance, and the utilization of the semiconductors are considered in this review. Abstract

Nowadays, plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) have been given wide concerns all over the world due to their merits over the fuel vehicles. Electric vehicle (EV) technology is equipped with a high efficient on-board battery charger (OBC). The battery charger converters are classified into three main types; integrated converter with the machine, two-stage and single-stage structure. These three types of OBC are usually compromised according to power factor corrector (PFC), cost, efficiency and lifetime. In this paper, a recent survey about the various available single-stage isolated unidirectional OBC systems are compared regarding to the previous four metrics. Moreover, hardware limitation, performance, and the utilization of the semiconductors are considered in this review. Finally, those topologies are summarized considering various performance criteria.
