Վրաստանի շուրջ ձևավորված պատժամիջոցային հանգույցի ազդեցությունը հարավկվովկասյան տարածաշրջայնացման գործընթացի վրա/The Impact of the Sanctions Knot around Georgia on the Regionalization Process in the South Caucasus

Abstract

In recent decades, the economic sanctions have become one of the most important tools of politics in interstate relations and application of the sanctions policy have had significant impact on the formation of the power balance in the South Caucasus. The aim of this article is to investigate the transformation of the regional balance of power caused by the imposition of sanctions by Russia and Georgia. The objective of the study is to identify emerging geopolitical constraints and dangers for Armenia as a result of mutual Russian-Georgian sanctions. The article is based on a comparative analysis of data obtained with both quantitative methods of research, i.e. the study of trade, economic and statistical data, and qualitative methods, i.e. content analysis of statements by political actors.
