Effect of Hydroalcoholic Extract of Prosopis farcta Pod on Liver Histopathology and Malondialdehyde Level in Streptozotocin Diabetic Rats

Materials & Methods: 45 male Wistar rats (200-300g) were divided into 3 groups; control, diabetic and Prosopis farcta extract treated diabetic. Type 1 diabetes was induced in by injection of streptozotocin (42mg/kg). One week after diabetes induction, Prosopis farcta extract (300mg/kg of body weight) was administered to treated diabetic group by gavage for 30 days. Hepatic histological changes were assessed with Hematoxylin-Eosin staining under light microscopy. The liver concentration of MDA was determined as thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS). The obtained data were statistically analyzed using Students T and Mann-Whitney rank sum tests. Findings: Administration of Prosopis fracta extract decreased the concentration of malondialdehyde in liver tissue of treated diabetic group in comparison to diabetic group significantly (p<0.05). Inflation and vacuolation of hepatocytes were observed with disarrangement of hepatic cords and sinusoidal narrowing. All previous signs were improved in Prosopis fracta treated group. 豆荚水醇提取物对链脲佐菌素糖尿病大鼠肝脏组织病理学及丙二醛水平的影响
目的:糖尿病是一种常见的内分泌紊乱,可导致高血糖和高脂血症。本研究旨在探讨豆荚水醇提取物对链脲佐菌素诱导的糖尿病大鼠肝脏组织病理学及丙二醛(MDA)水平的影响。材料与方法:45只雄性Wistar大鼠(200 ~ 300g)分为3组;糖尿病对照组、糖尿病组和甜菜提取物组。注射链脲佐菌素(42mg/kg)诱导1型糖尿病。糖尿病诱导1周后,治疗组大鼠灌胃给予棘豆提取物(300mg/kg体重)30 d。光镜下苏木精-伊红染色观察肝脏组织学变化。肝脏MDA浓度测定为硫代巴比妥酸反应物质(TBARS)。所得数据采用student T检验和Mann-Whitney秩和检验进行统计学分析。结果:与糖尿病组相比,给药棘豆提取物可显著降低糖尿病组肝组织丙二醛浓度(p<0.05)。肝细胞肿胀、空泡化,肝索紊乱,肝窦狭窄。治疗组前期各项体征均有改善。结论:豆荚水酒精提取物可降低肝脏脂质过氧化标志物丙二醛水平,预防糖尿病肝组织病理改变。
