Abstract
In this article, we present experiences with the Crew Availability Planning and Training System (CAPTAINS). CAPTAINS is a complex planning‐aid system that assists professional career planners. This article describes the learning component of CAPTAINS—the Learning Classifier System (LCS)—which predicts the bids on functions of pilots.
