Abstract

The effect of laser action on the structure of a model material — pure aluminum — is studied. Laser treatment of aluminum samples was carried out on a 15 J Nd:YAG laser, 10 pulses with a duration of 5·10–8 s. In the experiment, a transparent medium was used to exclude the influence of the thermal mechanism and create conditions for the shock-wave mechanism of action on the material. The structure was studied by transmission electron microscopy.
