LPWANs are outstanding and popular networks have been deployed for implementation of IoT networks. Similarly, AMI and AMR networks are expanding which are used for the purpose of smart meter reading and two-way communication between meters (subscribers) and servers (utility providers). Some pioneer and developed countries are combining these two new technologies to earn modern and optimized AMI network based on IoT technology. In this paper we have focused on one of the emerging and promising LPWAN standards called LoraWAN and have tried to utilize it to implement AMI/AMR network in a big city of Tehran. One of the main challenges to perform this, is the detailed design of topology and parameter determination of the LoraWAN we have carried out in this research.
