Three phase Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) based Voltage Source Converter (VSC) is used as an Improved Power Quality Converter (IPQC) for power control from supply system at DC link. Three phase Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) is employed with DTC scheme for supplying the PMSM. To control an IPQC, a modified DPC scheme based on three level and two level hysteresis controllers is designed to get a power factor close to unity with minimum Total Harmonic Distortions (THDs) of the supply currents. MATLAB/ SIMULINK environment is used to model the proposed PMSM drive.
