Abstract

The concept of Microgrids can be considered as an improvement to individual distributed generation. Microgrids comprises of a group of loads, microsources and their corresponding controllers to achieve the optimal output from the sources. The operational flexibility of MicroGrids to work with the grid and without the grid is one of their key characteristics. To accomplish appropriate functionality of microgrids due to various operating conditions and non steady nature of renewable microsources, sturdy control approach is must. This review paper deals with the architecture of microgrids and its control strategies using conventional control and a non linear sliding mode control.
