At the beginning of the article the introductory information with characteristics of landfill biogas, its negative impact on the environment is presented. The main mathematical models used for scoping of an exit of landfill biogas from solid waste landfill around the world are given in the second half of the article. The analysis of mathematical models is made and the main conclusions about the reliability of calculations are made when forecasting the volume of landfill gas. The goal of this study was to provide an estimate of the potential for using municipal solid waste as a resource for bioenergy with carbon capture and storage for Chelyabinsk (Russian Federation) and to compare the different models.
