Abstract

With the aim of advancing in the study of indigenous babies in the past, we intend to study the way in which they were represented in writings published in Argentina between the last decades of the nineteenth century and the 昀椀rst decades of the twentieth century, which described the indigenous populations of the country and were concerned with, at least super昀椀cially, accounting for di昀昀erent aspects related to babies in these societies. We investigate, in this case, abortion, infanticide, funeral practices, pregnancy, childbirth and the 昀椀rst years of life.
