Abstract

Research is continually seeking to better describe the relationship between pseudophakic capsular opacification and underlying cell biology, surgical technique, and intra-ocular lens biomaterial and design. Outcomes are reviewed from prospective, randomized studies that investigate the importance of capsulorhexis size, pharmacological treatment, and lens material in influencing capsular opacification and the need for capsulotomy.
