Abstract

This study predicts and investigates several sorts of cavity solitons (CSs) in nonlinear optical resonators in which the refractive index is modulated along transversal and longitudinal direction, i.e. in optical resonators filled with nonlinear photonic crystals. In addition to "normal" and "staggered" dissipative solitons, similar to those observed in spatially modulated conservative nonlinear optical systems, nondiffractive "mid-band" solitons of extremely small size are shown, having no counterparts in conservative systems.
