Abstract

The ways of stabilization of DC normal glow discharge at medium pressure 1.33...13.3 kPa and discharge currents 1...30 A under conditions of diffusion welding is considered. It is shown that the stable high-current glow discharge can be provided by inclusion of the external active resistance in the discharge gap with value not less than 80...100% of the discharge value. Alternatively, it could be done by the use of power sources with the inductive-capacitive converters. It is also shown that the region of the glow discharge stable existence can be increased by 1.6...1.7 times by replacing a monolithic anode with a multi-section one.
