Abstract

This contribution presents an analysis of spatial complexity prediction for H.264 rate control. A macroblock based model is proposed showing that we can take profit of the spatial correlation of macroblocks complexity and offering an improvement in coding efficiency. We compare our algorithm to JVT-G012 rate control algorithm and demonstrate that we can improve the prediction error by17 % and the video quality by 0.17dB.
