First Steps Toward a Full-Web National Telemedicine Portal

Abstract

Over the last decades, the digital age has changed our daily individual experiences, and even more, it has impacted our societies in many ways and through several technologies, serving thus different fields and various communities. Particularly, both patients and healthcare professionals are given new opportunities by utilizing suitable systems and applications that are specially designed and developed to cater to their specific needs within healthcare institutions and beyond. This paper gives insight into the design and implementation of a full-Web national telemedicine portal for Algerian hospitals. The still ongoing project requires many phases, the first steps are here described and some challenges are briefly discussed as well.
