Abstract

This overview shows how the "radio over fibre" technology based on a CDWM or DWDM platform can offer a technically and economically attractive alternative to the traditional setting up of new sites in the roll-out of third generation cellular networks, making it possible to centralize the network equipment in special sites and to distribute small microcellular devices compatible with the growing demand for greater protection of the environment and public health.
