Abstract

A closed-form expression for the spatial fading correlation function between the components of an electromagnetic vector sensor (EVS) in a 3-dimensional multipath channel is derived. The fading correlation function is expressed in terms of both the azimuth and elevation angle of arrival as well as the polarization states of the wave. The results obtained can be used to determine the spatial correlation matrix at both sides of the transmitter and receiver in multiple-input-multiple-output systems. Furthermore, it can be used to predict the system performance of the EVS under various channel conditions. Verification is achieved by comparing with simulation results.
