Abstract

AMTRAN is a time-sharing remote-terminal computer system ultimately intended to permit scientists and engineers to "converse" directly with a computer in a "natural" mathematical language. Its current objectives entail attainment of the following goals: a. "automatic" mathematical problem-solving, b. high-speed, on-line, scientific programming, c. a macro-compiler and operating system, and d. the development of low-cost, $5,000-15,000, graphic display terminals.
