Developing the "model" network

Abstract

As network planners try to plan and operate networks that offer the best value for money, they often find it a difficult to choose among the many alternatives. Network modeling can yield insight into network performance and cost prior to investment. Network modeling is a decision support tool, only as good as the information it processes. Ultimately, a successful network manager understands current requirements and is prepared to meet requirements in the future. Modeling can perform essential services to keep a network manager better informed and prepared, and a business better poised to meet the demand of its users and ultimately the demands of its customers.<>
