Abstract

The introduction of the digital twin technology created enormous potential for several industrial sectors to improve their operations. Accordingly, they can enhance their productivity, cost-effectiveness, reliability, quality, and flexibility. One important sector that can successfully benefit from this advanced technology is healthcare systems. This paper investigates how healthcare systems engineering can benefit from utilizing digital twins. Healthcare systems engineering applies the systems view of engineering analysis and design principles to enhance healthcare services.
