Abstract
Power theft is a blatant problem in electric powersystems, which causes great economic losses and leads to irregular supply of electicity. Power theft can be briefly defined as usage of power without the knowledge of the supplier. It has become the major problem in India and it is a crime. Overall India has highest losses about 16.2 billion dollar. Power theft can be happened in many ways one such way is that a registered customers steal either bypassing the meter ie: connecting around the meter to a live cable on a company side of the meter or tampering with the meter to make the meter to read less or no consumption. In order to eradicate the power theft it has to be identified. In this paper the raspberry Pi is fixed with threshold voltage and current whenever the voltage level get increased power theft is detected.
