Abstract
It is pointed out that when a communication system makes use of sequences over the quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) constellation as its spreading sequences, in comparison with the traditional spreading sequences with the same length of sequences, the transmission data rate (TDR) of the system by applying to the former is several multiples of one by using the latter. In this paper, two families of 16-QAM ZCZ sequences are presented, and the resultant sequences can arrive at the theoretical bound on the ZCZ sequences under their own conditions. When the proposed sequences are employed by an AS-CDMA communication system using the 16-QAM constellation as spreading sequences, the high TDR of the system holds without both multiple access interference (MAI) and multi-path interference (MPI).
