Abstract
We demonstrate a novel photonic-crystal fiber architecture that breaks with the paradigm of lattice homogeneity and enables a new degree of freedom in photonic-crystal-fiber design. We experimentally demonstrate guiding of <20 fs pulses over meter distance.
