Abstract

A computational scheme is presented for dynamic route travel time prediction. The basis for this method is macroscopic simulation which yields the time-dependent speed profile along all routes of a given network. Then the concept of virtual vehicles is introduced which moves test vehicles from relevant origins to selected destinations according to the respective mean speed values.
