Abstract
A method for evaluating the parameters controlling the behavior of gas-recombining lead-acid batteries has been proposed by M. Maja and N. Penazzi, (see J. Power Sources, vol.25, no.2, p.99-109 (1989) and J. Power Sources, vol.25, no.3, p.229-38 (1989)) and tests have shown the feasibility of the procedure. The method proposed is based on the measurement of the internal pressure of a cell filled with inert gas, oxygen, and hydrogen, and maintained at open circuit or in overcharge. The authors discuss the influence of various parameters on the pressure and the composition of the gas present in the cell, maintained in various conditions (storage, floating or overcharge).<>
