Research on a Computing Model for Internet Efficiency Index

Abstract

Internet efficiency index is a property indicating the performance of Internet and was studied in this paper. First, definitions and analyses of Internet density and Internet diameter were performed based on an Internet sample comprising more than 55 million data items, and their influences on Internet performance were discussed. Secondly, a definition of Internet efficiency index based on Internet density and Internet diameter was brought forward after the proof of mathematical relations between density and diameter. Then, fitting approaches for the mathematical model was discussed. Finally, the model is applied to a forecast of Internet in 2008 after its accuracy degree was testified.
