Abstract
Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of a voltage or current signal causes power system losses, apparatus overheating and increases the power bills. This paper proposes the design and implementation of a transformer less single-phase inverter system that produces an output voltage of desired magnitude and frequency at a very lower THD. In `general inverter system', a lower DC voltage is inverted into lower AC voltage which is further boost up to distribution level through a step up transformer. This system contains higher THD. But, the `proposed inverter system' efficiently converts a 12V DC into 220V AC at a lower THD. By analysis on a real system, both topologies are simulated. Here PSIM simulation software is used. From the comparison of the simulation output, lower THD is demonstrated for `proposed inverter system' than `general inverter system'.
