The tendency to an increase in thermal stability and heat storage of the studied water bodies, which has been particularly pronounced in the last two decades, is shown. In deep lakes, this contributed to the enhancement of ther-mal stratification and the deterioration of the gas regime in the bottom layers during the summer period. Abstract

The article provides an overview of the problem of changing the thermal regime of the lakes of the temperate zone of the northern hemisphere.
