Exploiting the feature of Wi-Fi signal detection from android smartphones, we built an app for user positioning in indoor environment. For testing purposes, we use pre-installed Wi-Fi access points and Beacon devices based on Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology in our department for indoor positioning at the department. Using the classical RSSI based trilateration algorithm, we improved upon the location estimation using gradient descent over error function.
