Abstract

GPS measurements are precise enough to allow a determination of tectonic motion within a few years. This can be made using a network of permanent stations, dynamically defined, using an inertial reference frame that moves with the geo-center. Comparing the position of these points over time, it’s possible to compute the velocity and direction of the plate motion.
