Abstract

Although electrical machines and power electronics are well studied in the different courses from BAC+1 to BAC+3, they are often studied separately. Many M2 level students in electrical engineering courses, while having already seen the principle governing electrical machines and power electronics, are unable to deeply describe the operation of a variable-frequency drive of an electric motor. The course presented in this article aims at filling these gaps, by proposing a structure based on experience (70%), with a part of simulation (20%) and some theoretical reminders (10%).
