Abstract
This article presents the results of the developments of compact low cost instrumentation to identify, and evaluate harmonic distortions in electrical power systems. First a sensor of the total voltage or current harmonic distortion is described. This provides the first information on the state of the power quality. The fundamentals and prototype performance results of a harmonic flow direction detector is also discussed. Next a selective harmonic analyzer is described. Finally, an instrument for harmonic impedance measurements is discussed. Adequacy, portability, the use of simplified techniques, reliability, accuracy and low costs of the prototypes are discussed in this paper.
