Abstract
A frequency-reconfigurable antenna using PIN diode is presented. The proposed antenna can accordingly operate at one of the two frequency bands which can be reconfigured by changing the dimensions of the antenna. One PIN diode is added to a dual-band monopole antenna structure to implement switch function of the dual frequency bands with the radiation patterns nearly unchanged. The two passbands of the proposed design are located at about 3.81-4.18 GHz and 6.7-7.57 GHz for the return loss larger than 10 dB. The predicted peak gains are respectively 1.44 and 2.62 dB for low- and high-frequency band.
