Abstract

XML query such as the query language XQuery leads to incomplete query results since XML focuses on data structure rather than semantics. In this paper we propose semantics-preserving XML query that uses SPARQL query to access over XML data based on the transformation of XML data to RDF ontology. Namely, we manually map XML data to RDF ontology in semantics-preserving way. We can then automatically translate SPARQL query into semantics-preserving XQuery query to access over XML data. We thus provide an interoperability between the existing legacy XML data and the RDF ontology.
