The reconfigurability is achieved using; primary loop antenna that is surrounded by secondary ones which are used to cancel the current and hence the radiation pattern in their direction. Abstract
A reconfigurable radiation pattern loop antenna is presented in this paper. The loop antenna operates at 2.4 GHz (WLAN/ Bluetooth /LTE/UMTS) having an omnidirectional radiation pattern in the antenna plane. The reconfigurability is achieved using; primary loop antenna that is surrounded by secondary ones which are used to cancel the current and hence the radiation pattern in their direction. Accordingly, the radiation pattern can be altered from an omnidirectional to a directional one by controlling the secondary antennas.
