Abstract
Summary Logging while drilling does not allow for predicting in advance the approach to fault. Estimation of the fault displacement using borehole data is ambiguous in homogeneous formations without significant contrast of physical properties, or in the presence of lateral facies changes. Therefore, very important tasks of interpretation of seismic data are: fault identification and clarification of fault displacement. Detailed interpretation of seismic data in combination with borehole data reliably allows to identify faults, including small-scale (vertical displacement 3-5 meters ), to reveal spatial distribution of faults, to clarify fault displacement and thus to reduce the risks and uncertainties while drilling horizontal wells, and update the geological model of the field at the development stage.
