Abstract
We discuss angular-momentum conservation law for spin and orbital angular momentum for a vortex generated by a silicon photonic gear, which is a ring resonator with an inner grating. The gear is coupled to two bus-waveguides to control the chirality of the emitted vortex out of the gear.
