Abstract

This paper introduces a method to find the location and the size of series capacitors to maximize the diagonal terms of the Jacobian submatrix. The obtained results are based on a newly defined d(/spl part/Q/sub i///spl part/V/sub i/)/dK/sub s/ criterion for voltage stability. The continuation method is used to update the bus voltage magnitudes and angles using the developed dV/dK/sub s/ and d/spl delta//dK/sub s/ parameters, respectively.
