Abstract
In this study, we investigated (1) which reference books are held in Japanese public libraries, (2) how many times they are used in reference records in Collaborative Reference Databases, and (3) which reference books are difficult to find in libraries, despite their usefulness. The results showed that there are several reference books which are frequently used in reference records but are not held in many libraries.
