Abstract

To innovate in the online and offline integration of blended teaching mode is one crucial counter-measure to help older adults cross “the digital divide” against the backdrop of “smart aid for se-niors”. By taking English vocabulary instruction for older adults as an example, a blended learning model based on Seewo intelligent whiteboard and Quizlet is constructed from the perspective of cognitive psychology, which emphasizes the learning needs of the elderly and the deep integration of teacher-led face-to-face teaching and elderly-oriented mobile learning, thus contributing to a benign interactive cycle of “teaching” and “learning”. This model not only provides a flexible and convenient mobile learning platform and high-quality vocabulary learning resources for late-life learners which are conducive to enhancing their intellectual literacy and learning autonomy, but also helps to improve English vocabulary teaching in the traditional classroom. In future research, it is still necessary to conduct teaching experiments and teacher-student attitude surveys to further examine the effectiveness of the blended learning model of English vocabulary for older adults.
